Starcraft 2: New Protoss Units and Buildings

One of the great races, Protoss, has just been expanded to be more powerful and complex than ever! Four new units and one new amazing structure have been added. The Protoss now have more abilities under their belt than ever! These abilities include teleportation and even more formidable artillery!



Zealots

The first of the new units, zealots, are creatures with hatred so intensely concentrated against their enemies that they are very feared in battle. Trained and utilized as minions of the templar, every zealot is given decades of training focusing on every aspect of battle as well as physical and mental physique. They rage into battle filled not only with hate but a desire to advance in the ranks of the templar through superior achievement.



The zealots have other weapons besides their zealotry though! They have cybernetic implants making them stronger than their natural foes. Just like all other Protoss, the zealots also have the power of psionics, and they certainly make use of it practically! With powerful swords made of pure energy and the capacity to ascertain a foe's future position in space, zealots aren't going to be going down easily!

In the first Starcraft, wounded soldiers were given a chance to redeem themselves by being transplanted into a dragoon body. However, the sacred shrine used for this process was destroyed by the Zerg. This rendered it impossible to produce more dragoons. This may have been a major loss for the Protoss, but if you read on, you will see it has produced a small battalion of extremely powerful troops for use in their front line.



If you played the original Starcraft, I'm sure you remember the powerful dragoons of the Protoss force. Well, they're back and even more powerful than before! The remaining dragoons were given hugely powerful weapons and armor and renamed "Immortals". Their main position in the field is to support the zealots by taking out all of the opposing weaponry. Though the immortals are weak against small foot soldiers facing them in melee combat, their shields can endure almost any attack of a larger scale! The immortals are, in essence, the ultimate form of self-sufficient artillery



Stalker

The dark templar were long ago exiled out of their Protoss homeworld. They were left to their own devices, given neither arm nor armament to defend themselves. As such, the dark templar were forced to draw from their embedded psionic energy more than any other creature to survive. Now the templar have returned in Protoss's time of need! They are building metal constructs called stalkers while infusing them with the essences of their best warriors.



Stalkers have similar melee characteristics to zealots, but have an extremely powerful ability, to boot! Stalkers can teleport, giving them the advantage in a battle. They could, for example, teleport to the other side of foes -- flanking them, or retreating from a lost battle. It is indisputable that their new teleportation capability will make battles even more tactical and complex than was ever thought before.

After an immense study of time and space, spanning almost their entire history, Protoss have mastered the art of teleportation! Protoss can now build mobile devices, phase prisms, which can manipulate the universe in ways never thought possible!



All while maintaining a high level of mobility, the phase prism is able to de-molecularize its target while recording its atomic structure. It is then able to send the information to another phase prism where the unit can be re-animated -- essentially, teleportation! This new building can also function as a pylon, minimizing Protoss's only major construction weakness

Lastly, the only new building for the Protoss allows unprecedented troop mobility. Gateways act much like a rooted phase prism requiring a pylon. Any troop entering a gateway can emerge from another gateway. With this technology, troops can be sent to an endangered outpost or back to their main base to recover



As impressive as gateways may seem, they are nothing compared to their upgrade, the warp gate. Troops entering a warp gate can emerge from anywhere within the Protoss energy matrix. Used in combination with the highly mobile phase prisms, an entire army can be deployed to the enemy base instantly!



The Protoss army is now more powerful than ever, but only time will tell if it is powerful enough to hold off the Zerg and Terran. It is certain, though, that the Protoss army is going to be anything but a pushover in the coming battles!
